(*Example topics are below.
Copy and edit to fit your concerns.)
* Citizens appreciate
the care and concern our Commissioners take when planning the budget
and spending our tax dollars. Please consider that this route is
not part of a prudent or cost effective mobility plan. Please
reject this route. Also, consider the removal of the "Place Holder"
route from the Mobility Plan 2007 Update to assure that this
route location study is not repeated in the future.
* Do not approve this
bridge route. It is clearly drawn to service the southeastern Collin
County transit hub, and BOTH are extravagant, damaging plans that
citizens want stopped.
* Collin County
projections show Hwy 380 and Hwy 78. NCTCOG traffic congestion is
not cured by a bridge. NCTCOG traffic projections show completion
of the more cost effective roadways (as Hwy 380 and Hwy 78), WITHOUT
building new bridge, lake area traffic gets no worse from
2009-2030. Instead of planning an extravagant bridge route that
Collin County engineering has said may "stay a line on the map
forever," spend a portion of the extravagant bridge cost and plan
for attainable improvements that will actually help in the areas of
greatest need.
* Please, do not
approve this route for an estimated $470 million dollar bridge the
lake area residents do not even want. This extreme cost is 10 to 15
times more than similar capacity non-bridge roadways. Collin
County's projected average daily trips are relatively low. When
compared to the new Hwy 75 and Hwy 121 project the Lavon project
cost is 6 times greater. This route is NOT fiscally responsible
planning.
* The Corps of
Engineers do not approve of this or any route drawn by HNTB. Please
do not approve this route.
* The chosen route
requires that both bridges have 52 feet high, 360 foot wide open
spans. Each cut diagonally over deep water, yet Collin County
Engineering and HNTB engineering deem this route the most "optimal."
Citizens are not persuaded by engineering's matrix of "+" and "-"
arguments. The study evaluations and reasons for choosing the route
were far too subjective. Please do not approve this questionable
and extravagant route as part of the official Collin County Mobility
Plan 2007 Update.
* Collin County admits
it does not have a specific study that quantifies the difference of
building, or not building, this bridge. They have no targeted data
to support the need for this bridge, while NCTCOG projections say
that completion of other area roadways will serve to keep the
traffic the same in 2030 as it was in 2009. Please do NOT approve
this route. Instead, revise the planned improvements for Hwy 380 and
SH 78. Focus on a plan for cost effective solutions that will help
the most and can be delivered sooner.
