Why We Oppose a Bridge Over Lake Lavon

Plans Will Inflict Growth - Not Prepare for Growth

Collin County and developers hope the bridge will bring dense development to the surrounding areas

In the DFW network of highways, Hwy 78 is the only 'spoke' that is not limited access. As long as Hwy 78 remains in its current state, eastern Collin County is ill-prepared to handle the growth a bridge would introduce.

We know that growth will come, but we ask Collin County to plan for logical, measured growth that will allow the small cities of eastern Collin County time to deal with needed infrastructure improvements.  This bridge is neither logical, or measured.

Collin County needs to get creative and come up with a better land-based transportation plan.

We ask that Collin County NOT spend any more Collin County tax dollars toward this bridge plan, and instead allocate the funds to expedite and complete the currently planned projects such as Hwy 78, Park Blvd. extension.  Include in the plan additional improvements to better carry the projected traffic in those areas.

Use innovative intersection solutions on Hwy 78. Like:
